It’s all about the Shelf: Creative Trapeze Partnering
Join us Thursday evening 8/23/18 at 7 PM-9PM cost is $40
We will explore creative ways to partner using shelf and weight share theories. We will explore nooks and crannies you might not normally think to use as we move around our partners and the trapeze. This class will be a mixture of technique and creative exploration. You do not need to have partnering experience or come with a partner to take this class, just an open mind to exploring movements with new people and expanding your personal space.
Pre-Req’s: Strong trapeze foundational skills including hip pullovers, inversions in the ropes, and strong one arm hangs. Please wear a sleeved shirt, pants that cover the backs of your knees and use good hygiene (ie. bring a change of clothing, wear deodorant etc.… if you tend to sweat a lot) as you will be working very closely with partners.
Nicole Mermans and Fareedah Aleem have been working together as duo partners as part of D’AIR Aerial Dance Company since 2012. The two are known for their energetic style, athletic prowess and fun and playful attitudes. D'AIR Aerial Dance Company is collaborative group of professional artists with backgrounds in movement arts ranging from classical ballet to hip hop, cabaret jazz, modern, Latin dance, tumbling and acrobatics, who take their dance from the floor into the air, creating truly unique multidisciplinary yet seamless productions. The dancers are first and foremost performers and have been known to share the stage or big screen as members with companies such as Dames a Flame, Arrested Development, the Austin Dance Ensemble, and stunt doubling for Kevin Hart. Established in 2009 by founding members Andrea Fors and Nicole Mermans, the company has produced 6 full evening length shows exploring human nature from different perspectives, always with a humorous lens. Physical theater and story-telling is our strength. Our artists are all extremely talented in their disciplines but also embrace their imperfections, priding themselves in being open, honest, accessible, daring, quirky and humorous in their story-telling.
